Well I know that I have been kind of slow at getting to this, but I finally am getting a little more time to catch up since Brinley was born.
On Friday November 26th I was scheduled for a morning induction. I was already dilated to 3 cm and 60% effaced in the office 2 days prior. I have problems with my placentas at delivery and many of the doctors have told me that due to my history with my placentas I should not go much past my due date, for the baby's safety. So I was induced 2 days before my due date. It was great because my sister was visiting from California and I thought it would be nice for her to be there with me. We got to the hospital around 7 am and got all set up with labs, IV, and monitoring. It was around 10 am when they started the pitocin. I have never thought that contractions are painful with pitocin. By 2 pm I was dilated to 4 cm and 100% effaced. I was not really in much pain and we walked the halls waiting for our sweat baby to make her way out. At 4 pm I got my epidural so that the doctor could break my water. I defiantly wanted an epidural and the doctor wanted me to get it before she broke my water in case the baby came to fast. Also breaking the water will normally move things along. At 5 pm the doctor broke my water and I was only 4.5 cm. Around 6:40 they checked me again and I was still 4.5 cm. I remember feeling so discouraged that for my 3rd baby I was not progressing much since I had only dilated 1.5 cm in almost 12 hours. I feared that there was a cord wrapped around the baby. The nurses suggested that I try turning from side to side to see if that would help. At 7:00 pm I was 6 cm. Well 7 o'clock is also shift change for the nurses so while my day nurse was giving report to the night nurse I started to have this pains on my right lower abdomen. They checked me again and I was complete. My sister had run to pick up some dinner and barely made it back in time for my delivery. At 7:24 pm, after 3 pushes, our sweet little baby Brinley Claire was born.
Well I hoped that that would be the end and my placenta would come out and I could start the recovery and enjoy my new baby girl weighing 9-4 and 21 inches, but that is when the hard part began. I just keep bleeding and bleeding. The doctor and the nurses where trying everything they could to stop the bleeding, but an hour later I was still bleeding pretty significantly. The Doctor finally looked at Derek and I and asked if we were planning on having any more children because she may have to remove my uterus to stop the bleeding. I have always felt that there is one more precious spirit that will come to our home someday. I just started praying, not out loud or anything, but just a silent prayer. Right as I ended my prayer the Doctor looked at me and said, "I don't know what just happen, but your bleeding has stopped and you are as dry as a bone in the hot dessert sun." I told her that I had prayed to God and He had heard my prayers. She said, "Well it worked." My bleeding was very minimal after that for just delivering a baby. the Doctors watched my labs and somehow I was only boarder line for needing a blood transfusion and was never symptomatic so I didn't have to get one. I witnessed the hand of the Lord that day not only in the delivery of a healthy baby girl, but also by Him hearing and answering my prayers.
